Design & Fabrication

Prototype Manufacturing

Turn industrial concepts into physical builds with prototype manufacturing, low-volume production, short-run fabrication, testing, and design iteration before larger production commitments.

Why Direct

Test the Design Before Production

Prototype work changes as the design develops. Direct works with engineering and product teams through fabrication, assembly, testing, and revisions so teams can evaluate a physical build, capture practical feedback, and make changes before those decisions become harder or more expensive to adjust.

Our Capabilities

Turn Concepts Into Testable Builds

Direct provides industrial prototyping services for equipment, fabricated parts, assemblies, panels, and custom concepts that need validation, manufacturability feedback, and a path toward low-volume production.

Prototype Fabrication and Assembly

Drawings, sketches, models, or functional requirements are turned into physical prototypes through metal and sheet-metal prototyping using CNC fabrication, waterjet cutting, forming, welding, electrical assembly, and mechanical build capabilities selected around the concept and testing goals.

Fit, Function, and Manufacturability Feedback

A physical build can reveal access, interfaces, material choices, manufacturability, tolerances, assembly sequence, serviceability, and other practical details that are difficult to resolve on-screen. Those findings can be captured, reviewed, and addressed while the design is still practical to change.

Low-Volume and Short-Run Manufacturing

As the design is validated, Direct can produce small batches that bridge the gap between a one-off prototype and a larger repeat-build program while keeping revisions, materials, documentation, tooling, and build expectations coordinated through the next production stage.

Prototype-to-Production Documentation

Revisions, build notes, BOM changes, fixtures, and process details can be captured throughout development so lessons from the prototype carry forward into low-volume or repeat production instead of being lost between builds, teams, suppliers, or later production stages.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Reduce Risk Before Full Production

A physical prototype gives teams a chance to uncover fit, access, fabrication, assembly, and operating issues while changes are still easier to make. It also creates a faster feedback loop between the design, the manufactured parts, and the next revision.

Test the Concept

Use a real build to evaluate fit, function, access, materials, interfaces, and design assumptions before scaling.

Make Changes Faster

Capture design revisions and practical fabrication feedback directly with the team building the prototype.

Bridge Into Production
